The Constitution of Siena
A key civic event in the 14th century

In 1309, the Republic of Siena decided to draw up a translated version of the laws that regulated public life, so as to render them accessible to those who were not familiar with latin. A democratic intitative without precedent, whose 700th anniversary is marked by the festival "La Città del Sì", a series of exhibitions, markets, shows and cultural events focusing on the medieval splendour of Siena.
